R… Rajkumar (3 Days) First Weekend Collection at Box Office

Bollywood movies released post Diwali have received lukewarm response in the domestic market, which had shocked many in the Hindi film industry. But the decent response for director Prabhu Deva's R... Rajkumar has come as a welcome change for the industry. The Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha starrer has concluded the first weekend with good collections at the Indian Box Office.

Shahid Kapoor, who is struggling to get a break, has promoted R... Rajkumar heavily. In addition to this, its music and promos had soared up the viewers' expectations to sky high. The masala entertainer, which released in 2,200 screens on December 6, opened to a decent response with its occupancy ranging between 45% and 50%. Though the film became the biggest opener for the actor, its business was not upto the expected mark.

R... Rajkumar garnered mixed reviews, and poor ratings and a negative word of mouth took a toll on its collection on Saturday. Its business dropped by 7% on its second day. The movie showed escalation on Sunday, but it was not upto the mark. The Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha starrer has collected approximately Rs 30.45 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. Its breakup is Rs 10.20 cr on Fri, Rs 9.50 cr on Sat and Rs 10.75 cr on Sun.

Overall, the first weekend collection of R... Rajkumar looks decent at the Indian Box Office. The movie has broken the records of Shahid Kapoor's previous release Phata Poster Nikla Hero, which had collected Rs 22 crore nett at the Indian Box Office in its opening weekend. Considering its hype, promotions and screen count, Bollywood trade expert opine that its performance is not upto the expectations.
