New Bollywood release Satyagraha has received a warm response in the key international markets. The Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor starrer has done superb business in limited number of screens at the overseas Box Office in the first weekend and topped the collection chart in all the foreign countries, wherever it was released. Especially, it has fared the best in UAE and USA.
Satyagraha has collected Rs 2.69 crores ($4,07,294) from 84 screens at the USA Box Office in its opening weekend. The film has topped the business chart in the country. The movie has raked in Rs 2.77 crores (AED 15,40,000) at UAE Box Office in the first weekend. It has become the biggest opener for Prakash Jha, beating the record of his previous film Raajneeti in the country.
The Prakash Jha-directed flick has collected Rs 1.18 crores (£1,14,212) from 46 screens at UK Box Office, Rs 66.18 lakhs ($1,00,000) in Pakistan, Rs 62.69 lakhs (A$1,05,269) from 16 screens in Australia, Rs 12.23 lakhs (NZ$23,625) from 8 screens in New Zealand in the first weekend. Satyagraha has landed in the No. 1 spot in all these countries.
Overall, Satyagraha collected approximately Rs 9.26 crores ($1.4 million) at the overseas Box Office in the first weekend. Considering its genre and limited appeal for the international audience, it is fantastic collection for the movie, which has failed to beat the record of Prakash's last Raajneeti, which had raked in approximately Rs 10.5 crores nett at the international market in its opening weekend.
