Satyagraha (Saturday) Second Day Collection At Box Office

Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor starrer Satyagraha, which had a superb opening, has shown good improvements in its collection at the Indian Box Office on Saturday. The Prakash Jha-directed socio-political thriller has beaten the second day record of his Blockbuster movie Raajneeti.

Made with a whopping budget of Rs 50 crores, Satyagraha released in 2500 screens in the country on August 30. The movie minted Rs 11.21 crore at the Indian Box Office on Friday, beating the opening day record of Raajneeti. Although the film garnered mixed reviews from film critics, a positive word of mouth took its business upwards on Saturday. It has collected Rs 13.08 crores on the second day, taking its two-day domestic total to Rs 24.29 crores.

Satyagraha has become the biggest opener for filmmaker Prakash Jha. Having a wonderful message to the society, the movie boasts of stellar performances by Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee and Amrita Rao. However, officials at UTV Motion Pictures are hoping that its collection would surpass Rs 15 crore mark on Sunday, taking its first weekend total to Rs 40+ crores.

Satyagraha reflects the uprising of the middle-class against a corrupt and unjust system. Talking about it, Gaurav Verma, the director of India Theatrical Distribution in Disney UTV, says, "The film has taken a good start at the box office. It is being well-received by viewers all across age groups. As word spreads which is positive - we expect significant growth over the weekend."
