SRK's Chennai Express (14 Days) 2nd Week Collection At Box Office

Shahrukh Khan's latest outing Chennai Express, which clashed with Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara, has once again done superb business at the Indian Box Office in the second week. The Rohit Shetty-directed flick has surpassed Rs 200 crore mark in the domestic market in just 14 days. It has also become the second all time highest grosser movie in Indian cinema, beating the record of Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger.

Chennai Express opened to an earth-shattering response and maintained rock-steady throughout the first week. The movie collected Rs 156.70 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in seven days. The Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer erased all previous records and set its new benchmarks for all days in the opening week.


With Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara hitting the screens on August 15, Chennai Express lost out many screens to the new release in the second week. Trade experts predicted that its business would slow down considerably. As expected, it did go down by more than 60%, but its collection is almost equal to that of the Akshay-Imraan-Sonakshi starrer. Its second week business is almost to close to Rs 50 crore mark.

Chennai Express has collected Rs 44.1 crores nett (Rs 25.23 crores in weekend and Rs 18.87 cr on weekdays) at the Indian Box Office in the second week. Now, its 14-day (two weeks) domestic total stands at Rs 200.80 crores nett. Its breakup is Rs 6.50 cr on Fri, Rs 8.51 cr on Sat, Rs 10.22 cr on Sun, Rs 3.80 cr on Mon, Rs 7.06 cr on Tue, Rs 4.51 cr on Wed and Rs 3.50 cr on Thu.

The action comedy entertainer has smashed the life time record of Ek Tha Tiger, which has collected Rs 199 crores from its complete theatrical run. It has also become fastest Rs 200 crore grosser. On its 15th day, Chennai Express is set to shatter the life time record of 3 Idiots, which is holding the record of all time highest grosser Hindi movie with its total domestic collection Rs 202 crores nett.
