Highway (3 Days) First Weekend Collection At Box Office

This weekend, Bollywood released three movies like Highway, Darr @ The Mall and Dee Saturday Night. Of them, the Alia Bhatt-Randeep Hooda starrer turned out to be the big money spinner. The road movie started on a slow note, but has showed improvement at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend.

Released in 800 screens, Highway opened to a poor response on Friday. But when compared to two other films, its business was far better. Having garnered mixed reviews from critics and viewers, the movie witnessed big jump in its numbers on Saturday and Sunday. The Imtiaz Ali-directed film, which has been made with medium budget of Rs 20 crores, has recovered 70% of its production cost in three days.

Highway has collected Rs 13.97 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. Considering its screen count, trade experts opine that its three-day business is on par with many biggies' movies. Its breakup is Rs 3.42 cr on Fri, Rs 4.80 cr on Sat and Rs 5.75 cr on Sun.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Imtiaz Ali, Highway revolves around the story of a young woman who is kidnapped right before her wedding and held for ransom, wherein she begins to develop a strange bond with her kidnapper. The film has received mixed reviews and many critics have liked it for its fresh story and unique narration.
