Salman's Jai Ho First Weekend Collection At Overseas Box Office

Superstar Salman Khan's Jai Ho has proved to be an average grosser not only in India, but also in the overseas Box Office in the first weekend. Released in record number of screens in six foreign countries, the movie has beaten the three day collection of Salman's Dabangg 2 and Ranbir Kapoor's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in the international market. But the Sohain Khan directed action drama has failed to break the records of recent Blockbusters like Krrish 3, Chennai Express and Dhoom 3.

Jai Ho was released in 700 screens in foreign countries like USA, UK, UAE, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan on January 24. The movie opened to lukewarm response, but the positive word of mouth took it upward in the international market on the following days. The Salman Khan starrer has collected Rs 22.38 crores nett ($3.55 million) at the overseas Box Office in the (three days) opening weekend.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#JaiHo started on a slow note in the international arena, but the biz witnessed day-wise growth in several markets. Source: Rentrak." He added, "#JaiHo has fared exceptionally well in UAE-GCC, Pakistan and USA-Canada mainly. Opening weekend total: approx $ 3.55 million [Rs 22.38 cr]."

Salman Khan's last outing Dabangg 2 had collected Rs 21.98 crores nett at the Overseas Box Office, while Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani beat this record by minting Rs 22.10 crores at the international market. Now, Jai Ho has shattered these records with a small margin.

Hrithik Roshan's Krrish 3 (Rs 24.86 crores from 600 screens), Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express (Rs 50.47 crores from 700 screens) and Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 (Rs 62.95 crores from 700 screens) have been smash hits with superb collection at the overseas Box Office in their opening weekend. However, Jai Ho has fallen back with huge margin in beating these records.
