Saif Ali Khan's Happy Ending movie released today and though the movie is a entertaining and quirky rom-com, the occupancy in the theatres was quite low. This may affect it's performance at the Indian Box Office very badly.
The film is based on a youth and urban centric concept but yet the foothalls in the multiplex theares are not as great as expected. The early morning, first day, first show saw very less occupancy, almost 15% in Bangalore.
It is expected to do well in metropolitan cities like Banaglore, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Delhi. Being a working day, the slow start may not be that bad, also the reviews have started to flood the internet and most of the critics have given it a one-time watch verdict, so this may help increase some foothalls in the theatre by late evening.
Saif is not as big a star as Shahrukh Khan or Salman but he is still very much a commercial actor, so even for him the occupancy rate in the theatres are less. The overall occupancy rate in India is just 40% so Happy Ending is off to a sluggish start.
But there are several good reviews, and viewers from early morning show too are tweeting positive responses so based on some word of mouth promotion, the viewers' traffic will definitely increase. Also this is the only big Bollywood movie that has released this weekend with not much competition from other language movies, so people don't have much choice but to watch this fun filled rom-com, Happy Ending.
The movie also stars Ileana D'Cruz, Govinda, Kalki Koechlin, Ranvie Shorey, Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta. The film is expected to fetch at least Rs 6-7 crores. Ranveer Singh's Kill Dil is still running in the theatres and hopefully it doesn't after this movie. Let's wait and watch.
In the mean time check out what the Bollywood celebrities feel about the Happy Ending movie:
