The movie already had a lot of hype surrounding it, either for the sequel aspect or for Kangana's double role. Whatever the reason, it helped the people rush to the theaters on the opening day and good reviews throughout the day caught the attention of viewers during the evening and night shows.
All this helped it garner over Rs 8.85 crores on Friday, Day 1. Thereafter good word of mouth promotions kept the viewers interested and the weekend collections just soured.
At the end of 6 days, the film has managed to mint Rs 62.95 crores, trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#TanuWedsManuReturns Fri 8.85 cr, Sat 13.20 cr, Sun 16.10 cr, Mon 8.90 cr, Tue 8.20 cr, Wed 7.70 cr. Total: ₹ 62.95 cr. BLOCKBUSTER."
The film not only did well in India but in the overseas market too Tanu Weds Manu Returns grossed money. At the end of 5 days, the movie grossed Rs 22 crores. Taran tweeted, "#TanuWedsManuReturns Overseas 5 days [till Tuesday]: ₹ 22 cr. SUPERB!"
This brings the total collections to Rs 84.95 crores!
