Update:
Surprises
never
cease,
especially
when
it
comes
to
Bollywood.
Just
when
it
seemed
that
the
month
of
May
would
stay
absolutely
lean
and
the
next
big
one
would
arrive
all
the
way
into
June
when
Adipurush
hits
the
screens,
here
comes
The
Kerala
Story
which
has
taken
the
nation
by
surprise.
THE
KERALA
STORY
BOX
OFFICE
UPDATE
The
Kerala
Story
started
exceedingly
well
and
then
had
a
superb
weekend,
but
what
made
it
really
tick
was
the
score
that
it
gathered
over
the
weekdays
where
the
collections
only
continued
to
get
bigger
and
bigger
with
every
passing
day.
That's
what
resulted
in
the
first
week
of
81.07
crores
which
basically
sealed
the
blockbuster
status
for
the
film.
However,
it
is
now
apparent
that
this
was
just
a
start
for
the
film
as
the
second
weekend
has
turned
out
to
be
even
better,
what
with
55
crores*
more
coming
in.
The
first
weekend
itself
was
quite
good
at
35.44
crores
and
to
have
collections
almost
20
crores
ahead
of
that
is
nothing
less
than
spectacular.
The
film
has
clearly
been
loved
by
one
and
all
and
that's
reflecting
in
the
ever-growing
footfalls
that
the
Adah
Sharma
starrer
is
enjoying.
As
a
result,
the
overall
score
for
the
film
reads
136
crores*
and
that's
the
second
fastest
century
of
the
year
after
Pathaan.
This
isn't
all
as
it
has
already
surpassed
the
lifetime
score
of
Kisi
Ka
Bhai
Kisi
Ki
Jaan
[expected
to
be
110
crores]
while
Tu
Jhoothi
Main
Makkaar
lifetime
of
147
crores
would
be
history
as
well
by
tomorrow.
Wait,
there
is
more!
When
it
comes
to
the
lifetime
score
of
the
female-centric
films,
Raazi
[124
crores]
and
Gangubai
Kathiawadi
[129.10
crores]
have
been
surpassed
as
well
rather
comfortably
in
mere
10
days.
Basically,
the
film
is
now
making
itself
to
the
record
books
on
number
of
parameters
and
the
logical
outcome
would
be
for
it
to
go
past
The
Kashmir
Files
which
belonged
to
a
similar
genre
and
was
catering
to
the
same
kind
of
audience.
That
film
had
a
lifetime
score
of
253
crores
and
while
that
would
indeed
be
difficult
for
The
Kerala
Story
to
chase
down,
the
stage
would
be
wide
open
for
that
to
open
if
it
manages
to
have
a
double-digit
score
today
as
well.
First-time
director
Sudipto
Sen
has
delivered
and
all
time
blockbuster
for
producer
Vipul
Shah
here.
Meanwhile,
Vipul's
regular
hero
Vidyut
Jammwal,
who
has
featured
in
his
Commando
franchise,
has
just
released
IB
71
and
it's
a
good
film
that
definitely
deserves
better
numbers
for
itself.
A
spy
drama
that
has
a
lot
of
intelligence
element
coming
into
play
coupled
with
thrills
and
is
not
exactly
an
action
film
(as
is
expected
from
Vidyut
each
time
around),
the
film
had
a
fair
start
of
1.67
crores
at
the
box
office.
This
is
better
than
what
Vidyut's
last
theatrical
release
Khuda
Haafiz:
Chapter
2
had
netted
on
its
opening
day
[1.30
crores].
In
fact,
the
weekend
has
been
better
too
as
Khuida
Haafiz:
Chapter
2
had
brought
in
6.30
crores
in
its
first
three
days
whereas
IB
71
has
done
a
bit
better
with
7.50
crores*
to
its
name.
That
said,
while
it's
a
comparative
score
between
the
two
films,
what
matters
is
that
eventually,
the
Sankalp
directed
film
scores
as
per
merits.
Had
it
not
been
The
Kerala
Story
wave,
the
film
would
certainly
have
scored
far
better
and
comfortably
gone
past
the
15
crores
mark
over
the
weekend.
With
a
couple
of
open
weeks
ahead,
one
hopes
that
the
well-made
film
sustains.
*Estimates.
Final
numbers
awaited
