Box-Office: Pathaan Brings In Close To 30 Crores In Its Third Weekend, Set To Enter 500 Crore Club This Week

Currently standing at 489.05 crores*, Pathaan is now just a little over 10 crores away from hitting the massive mark of 500 crores.

Pathaan Set To 500 Crore Club This Week

2022 was a year when number of notable films were turning out to be disasters by closing their lifetime in 25-30 crores range. Then there were some that were failing while collecting as much in their first week and then fading away. Hence, if a film collected this much on its first weekend, it was expected that somehow there would be a miraculous hold on days to follow and at least 50 crores lifetime would come calling (though that seldom happened). However if a mid-budget film brought in this kind of moolah in the opening weekend, one felt a sigh of relief.

Well, that's how the entire 2022 went, and hence is looked at as largely forgettable as far as Bollywood films are concerned. Hence, it's a big deal indeed when Pathaan goes on to collect in this kind of a range and that too in the third weekend. There is so much moolah that the film has already accumulated in the first fortnight of release with over 450 crores coming in. Hence when the third weekend also earns well and around 30 crores more coming in, it signifies almost this much more to come in before the close of run for share.

Currently standing at 489.05 crores*, the film is now just a little over 10 crores away from hitting the massive mark of 500 crores. In a single language, this has happened just once before for an Indian film, the Hindi version of Baahubali: The Conclusion. The SS Rajamouli film had collected 511 crores and now Pathaan is set to emulate this feat. To begin with, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer would be taking help from the south versions as well which would contribute close to 17-17.50 crores in making that happen. While that would be first step of celebration, the truly real ones would begin when just the Hindi version of the Yash Raj production will go past 511 crores.

While we are taking about two of the biggest all time blockbusters to have come out of the Indian film industry, closer home the few new Hindi releases have turned out to be absolute disasters at the box office. These are Anurag Kashyap's Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat and Hansal Mehta's Faraaz which released a week back and then Anupam Kher led Shiv Shastri Balboa which hits the screens this Friday itself. None of these has managed to collect even 1 crore each in their run so far.

Hopefully, the trend will reverse with the release of Shehzada which arrives this Friday.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
