Dunki Box Office Collection Day 1: SRK’s Film FAILS To Repeat Pathaan, Jawan’s Magic; Struggles To Touch 50Cr

Shah Rukh Khan, who has given two mega-blockbusters this year with Pathaan and Jawan, is now making the headlines for his third release of the year. We are talking about Rajkumar Hirani's directorial Dunki which also features Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani in the lead. The movie has been one of the biggest releases of the year and fans have been speculating if Shah Rukh will be able to recreate the magic of Pathaan and Jawan once again.

Interestingly, Dunki has opened to mixed reviews from the audience. While a section of the audience is singing praises for Shah Rukh's performance, Vicky's acting and the heartwarming story, some people also found Dunki boring. In fact, as per some of the tweets on the micro-blogging site Twitter (now X), Dunki happens to be director Rajkumar Hirani's work project.

On the other hand, as Dunki's box office collection has also been the talk of the town, according to a report published in Sacnilk, this Shah Rukh starrer is expected to rake in around Rs 30 crores at the box office on its day of release. Well if the reports turned out to be true, Dunki seems to have struggled to touch Rs 50 crores and failed to recreate the magic of Pathaan and Jawan which minted Rs 57 crores and Rs 75 crores respectively.

Meanwhile, Dunki is facing a box office clash with Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran's Salaar and Jason Momoa starrer Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. Talking about the clash, Salaar producer Vijay Kirangdur told Bollywood Hungama, "We don't want things to be ugly. We are already having meetings with the exhibitors and distributors. When we have a solo release, the occupancy generally will be around 60-70 percent. Some screens will go to 'Aquaman', but between Salaar and 'Dunki', we hope to get 50-50 screens in the best scenario. In such a scenario, if an occupancy of 90-100 percent is achieved, it'll be a good result for both films".
