Dunki Box Office Collection Day 9: SRK’s Film Inches Towards 170Cr; Will It See A Rise During Weekend?

Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu have recently collaborated for the first time for Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki and this new onscreen jodi has managed to create ripples in the town. After all, they were seen in a comedy drama with a touch of emotions based on a relevant topic of the eponymous illegal immigration technique. The movie has been one of most anticipated releases of the year and high hopes were pinned for Dunki.

However, this Rajkumar Hirani directorial opened to mixed reviews from the audience and witnessed an average start of Rs 29.2 crores. While the opening weekend did see growth in the collections, Dunki has been witnessing a continuous dip in collections since Christmas. And while the drop has been significant earlier this week, Dunki seems to be steady at the box office lately.

The movie raked in a collection of Rs 11.56 crores on day 6 (first Tuesday) followed by a collection of Rs 10.5 crores on day 7 (first Wednesday) and Rs 9 crores on day 8 (second Thursday). Interestingly, the overall collection of Dunki turned out to be Rs 161.01 crores after eight days of release. According to the ongoing trend, Dunki is likely to remain steady at the box office today (day 9/ second Friday) and is likely to mint around Rs 7-9 crores today at the box office.

It is evident that Dunki is making its way towards Rs 170 crores mark and with the second weekend around the corner, there are expectations of a rise in the collections. It will be interesting to see if Dunki can cross Rs 200 crores mark during the second weekend.

Interestingly, Dunki is witnessing a box office clash with Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran's much talked about movie Salaar and the latter is giving it a tough fight. Yes! Salaar has managed to crush Dunki and made an opening day collection of Rs 95 crores after opening to rave reviews from the audience. This isn't all. Salaar, which has been helmed by ace filmmaker Prashanth Neel, has also reportedly scored Rs 175 crores at the worldwide box office on its day of release. In fact, it has raked in Rs 400 crores worldwide so far in just 4 days of release.
