Dunki Makers Opt For Lesser Screens In USA Compared To Jawan And Pathaan; Check Out DEETS Inside

Dunki Screens In USA: It won't be wrong if we say that 2023 has been the year of Shah Rukh Khan. After delivering two back-to-back all-time hits with Jawan and Pathaan, the Bollywood superstar is all set for the release of his third film of the year, Dunki.
Dunki marks SRK's first collaboration with director Rajkumar Hirani, and the excitement surrounding the social comedy drama is quite visible on social media. Set to release on December 21 in theatres, Dunki has already recorded amazing figures in its advance bookings in the domestic market.
Shah Rukh commands a massive craze in the USA, however, the makers seem to have opted for a cautionary stance with their release strategy in the country.
Dunki has fewer screens in the USA
Shah Rukh Khan is known for making Hindi films popular in America. From "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" to "Kal Ho Naa Ho" to the recent "Jawan" and "Pathaan," they have consistently performed exceptionally well at the American box office.
But looking at Dunki, the makers are being cautious with their release strategy. As per a report by the Times of India, the film has secured just 500 locations and has sold around 24 thousand tickets for 1450 odd shows. It has so far collected $325,738(Rs. 2.70 crore).
Jawan had nearly 570 locations and over 2200 shows for its opening day in September. While Pathaan was released in about 647 locations, had more than 1900 shows, and collected nearly $15.23 million through runs in the USA, Jawan recorded $17.45 million in total.
However, the trade experts believe that despite its low screens and shows in the US, Dunki is performing good at the advance booking window, as it added $60,000 in one night.
It now remains to be seen how Shah Rukh's biggest film would perform at the American market, as it will face Timothee Chalamet's Wonka and Jason Momoa and DC's superhero movie Aquaman 2. Meanwhile, Dunki will also clash with Tollywood biggie Prabhas's Salaar, which has secured more shows and screens.

Dunki also stars Tappsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, and others in pivotal roles. Its synopsis reads, "A group of friends use a backdoor process to move to another country, then struggle to return home."
