Bholaa Day 1 Box Office Collection Prediction: Ajay Devgn's much-awaited movie of the year, Bholaa, is all set to hit theatres tomorrow, March 30. The actioner, starring an ensemble cast of stellar performers including Tabu, Sanjay Mishra, Deepak Dobriyal, and Abhishek Bachchan, amongst others, has already piqued interest with its high-octane trailer.

Ajay Devgn donned the hat of a director for the fourth time for Bholaa and it is expected to kick off the box office journey on a high note. For the unversed, Bholaa is the remake of the superhit Tamil movie Kaithi, starring Karthi, which was helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn and Tabu are reuniting again after the success of Drishyam 2. The hit team is expected to make wonders at the box office with Bholaa.

However, Bollywood remakes have failed to pull audiences back to theatres; will Bholaa be able to fight the curse? Here's what film producer and business expert Girish Johar had to say in an exclusive to Filmibeat.

HOW'S THE BUZZ AROUND BHOLAA?

After the massive success of Drishyam 2, Ajay Devgn is returning to the screen with another dark, high-octane action drama, Bholaa. Its trailer has left moviegoers excited, and it seems to be making quite a wave at the box office. Addressing the buzz around Bholaa, Girish said, "The excitement level around Bholaa is quite high, and it's an action entertainer. And after Pathaan, I think it is the next big film or a big screen entertainer which has loads of action."

Adding that Bholaa will be a treat for all action movie fans, Mr. Johar said, "It is not only produced and directed by Ajay, he's also starring in it. And we all know he has a huge fan following. Everyone loves his on-screen presence and the stardom he brings, and whatever material and promotions have been shared of Bholaa, the traction of the film is quite good."

He further added, "Even the film has decent advances, which in today's day and age is quite a positive sign. So I'm expecting a good opening. It's also releasing tomorrow, which is a Ram Navami holiday. And the Hindi belt has a holiday tomorrow. So it's poised to have a good long weekend at the box office."

HOW MUCH CAN BHOLAA EARN ON ITS OPENING DAY?

Further, weighing in on Bholaa's opening day figure, Mr. Johar said that the box office is dynamic and whether it is a hit or a miss will depend on its content. Bholaa is releasing on a weekday, Thursday, and on more than 3000 screens in various formats, including 3D and IMAX. "If the film opens with a double digit anywhere around 10, 11, or 12 crores, that will be a comfortable step or a foothold in the box office door. So that it has a good, long run at the box office. It can build upon there. Further, any number higher than 10-12 is brilliant. But if it's anywhere around ten to twelve crore on day one, I think it's a good start," Johar added.

ANY COMPETITION FROM TOLLYWOOD STAR NANI'S DASARA?

While speaking about a clash with the Tollywood movie Dasara, starring Nani, here's what Mr Johar had to say. "Dasara is again a big film down south. It is poised to open huge. I'm expecting all languages combined in the country with Dasara to open up anywhere around Rs. 25 crores plus. But having said that, I don't think there is a clash between the south films like Bholaa, which is a remake of Kaithi, which people have already seen. And I'm sure Ajay Devgan has kept that thing in mind so that he's catering and his promotion techniques and targeting the audiences. That is why it is more based on Hindi speaking and the Northern Belt, as we say in trade language and whatever buffer is coming from the south is a bonus. So I don't see a clash. Both are big films in their own markets, and both can survive. We've seen that many films can do well at the box office."

Ajay will be seen playing the titular character in Bholaa, who is going home to meet his young daughter after spending 10 years of his life in jail. The obstacles and threats he faces on his path form the basic storyline of Bholaa. Tabu will be seen playing a cop after Kuttey.
