Gadar 2 Box Office Collection Day 43: Sunny Deol’s Film Creates A Big Record; Becomes First Franchise To…..

This year, the Indian box office witnessed the release of one of the biggest sequels which had set the box office on fire. We are talking about Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2. The movie was the sequel to the 2001 release Gadar and featured Sunny and Ameesha reprising their roles of Tara Singh and Sakina respectively.
Gadar 2, which was helmed by Anil Sharma, had opened to rave reviews from the audience and has been ruling the box office. In its journey of over a month, Gadar 2 has enjoyed a phenomenal run and has entered the coveted Rs 500 crore club. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Gadar 2 has minted Rs 25 lakhs on day 43 (seventh Friday).
If the reports turned out to be true, Gadar 2's total collection will now stand at Rs 522.25 crores. And while is still earning a decent amount at the box office, it is reported that Gadar 2 has created a unique record now. According to a tweet shared by Navneet Mundhra, Gadar has become the first franchise in the history of Bollywood where both the films (first and second) have become all time grossers.
Interestingly, it is a special record which is unlikely to be broken for a long time. Meanwhile, there are reports about Gadar 2 crossing the lifetime collection of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan which happens to be around Rs 525 crore (Hindi) and become the second highest grossing Hindi film after Jawaan.
Given the stupendous success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol is overwhelmed with the audience's response. Talking about it during Aap Ki Adalat, Sunny Deol said, "I had no such expectations...when the first Gadar movie was made, it's the people who made it a big hit. There was no digital world in those days. But we had that gut feeling that it would click. In those days, we did not use to go out for promotions. This time, before doing Gadar 2, we, particularly our director, did a brainstorming. It was delayed and Covid pandemic began. When he told me about the idea, I liked it and from then onwards, work began. I had this confidence that the people who liked Gadar, will like this sequel too. I knew, either the movie will not click, or if it clicked, it will give the movie its due honour. This movie has kept its izzat as a sequel".
