Mission Raniganj vs TYFC Box Office Collection Day 3: Akshay’s Film Sees A Jump; Bhumi’s Film Improves By 48%

Mission Raniganj vs TYFC Box Office Collection Day 3

Akshay Kumar's Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue has been the talk of the town ever since it was announced. After all, it narrates the real life story Jaswant Singh Gill, a brave and diligent mining engineer from IIT Dhanbad, who rescued 65 trapped miners at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989. Besides, it also marked Akshay's second collaboration with Parineeti Chopra after Kesari.

Interestingly, Mission Raniganj has opened to mixed reviews from the audience and witnessed a slow start at the box office. While the disaster thriller opened with a collection of Rs 2.8 crores, which is Akshay's third lowest opening in a decade, it saw a jump during the weekend.

According to a report published in Sacnilk, Mission Raniganj is likely to mint Rs 5.34 crores on its first Sunday (day 3). If the reports are to be believed, the overall collection of Mission Raniganj will now stand at Rs 12.84 crores. Interestingly, Mission Raniganj witnessed a box office clash with Rhea Kapoor's production Thank You For Coming which also stars Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Kusha Kapila, Shibani Bedi, Karan Kundrra and Dolly Singh.

Reportedly, the movie, which was released on 500 screens, saw an opening day collection of Rs 1.06 crores and has been growing gradually. In fact, it is likely to witness 48% growth during the opening weekend. Thank You For Coming will reportedly make a collection of Rs 2.04 crores which will take the overall collection of the movie to Rs 4.47 crores.

It will be interesting to see how both films will fare in the coming days. Meanwhile, talking about Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, Akshay, while addressing the students of IIT Dhanbad in a virtual interaction, stated, "Jaswant Gill's real-life story is truly inspiring and encouraging. Similarly, 'Padman' also showcased the inspiring journey of a visionary. They don't make people like them anymore. As an actor, I really love working on such inspirational stories that need to be told. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to speak to Jaswantji on call when he was alive. He was so humble, simple, and down to earth that it was genuinely an honor talking to him".
