Mission Raniganj Box Office Collection Day 7: Akshay’s Film Inches Close To 20Cr; TYFC Fails To Cross 50Lakh

The year 2023 hasn't been quite favourable for Akshay Kumar and it is evident with the box office collection of his movies this year. While his previous two releases Selfiee and OMG 2 were seen struggling at the box office despite mixed reviews, his recent release Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue seems to be going slow at the box office as well. In fact, this disaster thriller drama became Akshay's third lowest opener in a decade
For the uninitiated, Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, which also stars Parineeti Chopra and Kumud Mishra in the lead, is based on a real story of mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill who rescued 65 trapped miners at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989. And after witnessing a slow start at the box office, this Akshay starrer is going slow and steady at the box office.
Now, as per a recent update, Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue is inching close to Rs 20 crores mark. According to a report in Sacnilk, the movie is likely to mint Rs 1.41 crores today (day 7/first Thursday). If the reports turned out to be true, the overall collection of Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue now stands at Rs 18.46 crores
Interestingly, Interestingly, Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue witnessed a box office clash with Rhea Kapoor's production Thank You For Coming starring Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Karan Kundrra, Kusha Kapila, Shibani Bedi and Dolly Singh. While the movie was released on 500 screens, it seems to be falling flat and struggled to earn Rs 50 lakhs on day 7.
Yes!. As per Sacnilk, Thank You For Coming will be earning Rs 34 lakhs today (first Thursday) which will take the overall collection of the movie to Rs 4.64 crores.
It will be interesting to see how both films will fare in the coming days. Meanwhile, talking about Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue, Akshay, while addressing the students of IIT Dhanbad in a virtual interaction, stated, "Jaswant Gill's real-life story is truly inspiring and encouraging. Similarly, 'Padman' also showcased the inspiring journey of a visionary. They don't make people like them anymore. As an actor, I really love working on such inspirational stories that need to be told. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to speak to Jaswantji on call when he was alive. He was so humble, simple, and down to earth that it was genuinely an honor talking to him".
