Tiger 3 Box Office: Can Salman Khan Starrer Match The Success Of SRK’s Jawan In South? Film Expert Weighs In

Tiger 3 Box Office Success In South: The highly anticipated release of Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi starrer Tiger 3 is just around the corner. Helmed by Maneesh Sharma, the film is set to release during the Diwali weekend, November 12.
Tiger 3's trailer which was released recently garnered a monstrous response, and it added to the excitement among cine-goers for the epic showdown between Salman Khan and Emraan Hashmi.
While Tiger 3 is expected to establish new benchmarks in the northern part of the country, the big question remains, Can it match the success of Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan in the South?
TIGER 3 SUCCESS IN SOUTH MARKET
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala, in a conversation with ETimes, shared his insights on Tiger 3's box office prospects in the southern markets. He emphasized that unlike Jawan, Tiger 3 and Dunki are considered regular Bollywood movies in the South, without any additional expectations.
Bala pointed out that Tiger 3's will attract a similar audience to the successful franchise film, Tiger Zinda Hai as it is a typical Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-style film. He also added that there might not be anything special or extraordinary at the South box office, as the film lacks the South Indian connection that was seen in Jawan, which featured director Atlee and regional actors.
He further discussed the dominance of Hindi stars in the South and said that films like Dangal and Krrish have performed well. He added that the action movies like the upcoming film WAR attract audiences from the second or third day of its release.
He also added that on Diwali big South Indian movies are also releasing which will make the audience wait to watch the film.
He was quoted as saying, "Basically, in cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, there's always a crowd which goes to watch Hindi movies regularly. But the ratio is very low. The footfalls for 'Tiger 3' might be more in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, than in Chennai."
Regarding Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming release Dunki, slated for December, Bala suggested that expectations may not differ from Tiger 3. He explained that Dunki, being a non-action film, might register a softer opening, and its success would depend on word-of-mouth, much like Rajkumar Hirani's past hits, PK and 3 Idiots.
