Tu Jhoothi Mian Makkar Day 1 Box Office Collection: Ranbir-Shraddha Kapoor Starrer Sets Off On A Smashing Note

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Box Office Collection Day 1: Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor's most-awaited rom-com Tu Jhooti Main Makkar has finally been released in theatres. Released during the festivities of Holi, the film is expected to get more footfall over the weekend. According to the trade website sacnilk, the film has seen a positive trend in advance bookings for the first day and is expected to have the second-best opening for a Bollywood film this year, after Pathaan.

As of 7 pm on Tuesday, the film had sold approximately 84,000 tickets, which comes to a total of around Rs 2.50 crore at the box office. The advance bookings are expected to reach around 100,000 tickets by the end of the day. The movie has been directed by Luv Ranjan.

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar's advance booking has been much better than Kartik Aaryan's Shehzada and Akshay Kumar's Selfie. As per early estimates, the romantic comedy is expected to make a double digit opening somewhere between Rs 14 to Rs 16 crore.

Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is also said to be leaving Luv Ranjan's Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, whose day 1 collection earned Rs 6.42 crore nett and ended its successful lifetime run at Rs 109 crore nett. It starred Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Singh and Nushratt Bharuccha, in lead roles.

Speaking exclusively to Filmebeat, producer and film business expert Girish Johar said, "The film will open anywhere around the Rs 10 to Rs 12 crore mark on its day one. And if the word of mouth is good, it can close day one on a higher number also. But if the word of mouth or the appreciation level are not as matching as expected, it can come down. But having a day one of around ten to twelve crores is a very comfortable start to the film."

The film also stars Dimple Kapadia and Boney Kapoor, and it marks the debut of standup comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi.
