The
year
2023
was
quite
successful
for
the
Indian
box
office
as
it
witnessed
the
release
of
several
box
office
hits
which
did
wonders
at
the
ticket
windows.
The
year
started
with
Shah
Rukh
Khan's
comeback
release
Pathaan
and
till
December
there
were
several
big
releases
as
the
year
ended
with
the
box
office
clash
between
SRK's
Dunki
and
Prabhas'
Salaar.
This
year
has
been
quite
successful
for
Shah
Rukh
with
three
releases
including
Pathaan,
Jawan
and
Dunki.
However,
it
has
been
Ranbir
Kapoor
and
Rashmika
Mandanna
starrer
Animal
which
has
been
giving
Shah
Rukh
Khan
a
tough
fight
at
the
box
office.
Helmed
by
Sandeep
Reddy
Vanga,
Animal
released
on
December
1
and
also
featured
Anil
Kapoor,
Bobby
Deol
and
Triptii
Dimri.
The
movie
had
managed
to
create
several
records
at
the
box
office
including
becoming
the
second
highest
opener,
Ranbir's
biggest
opener,
Ranbir's
highest
grossing
film
and
more.
And
while
Animal
continued
to
have
a
good
hold
at
the
box
office
for
five
weeks,
the
movie
managed
to
rake
in
a
decent
amount
in
the
fifth
weekend.
Yes!
Animal
minted
Rs
544.93
crores
in
the
fifth
weekend
and
has
managed
to
earn
Rs
1.33
crores
on
day
32
(fifth
Monday)
taking
the
overall
collection
of
the
movie
to
Rs
546.26
crores.
As
Animal
is
inching
towards
Rs
550
crores,
the
movie
has
managed
to
beat
the
lifetime
collection
of
Pathaan
and
created
a
massive
record.
For
the
uninitiated,
Pathaan,
which
was
helmed
by
Siddharth
Anand,
made
a
lifetime
collection
of
Rs
543.05
crores.
And
now
with
Animal
raking
in
Rs
544.93
crore
till
the
last
day
of
December
2023,
it
is
evident
that
Animal
has
managed
to
beat
Pathaan
and
has
emerged
as
the
second
highest
earning
film
of
2023
after
Jawan
which
minted
Rs
640.25
crores.
Talking
about
Animal's
box
office
success,
Sandeep
Reddy
Vanga
told
IndiaToday.in,
"I
was
expecting
the
film
to
do
well,
I
knew
it
would
do
600
crores
to
700
crores
but
wasn't
expecting
these
huge
numbers.
It
has
already
crossed
the
800
crores
mark,
which
was
a
surprise
for
me
and
I
am
very
happy
with
the
collection.
Even
with
the
reviews,
the
film
has
done
great
numbers
at
the
box
office
and
as
a
filmmaker,
I
am
happy."
