Chandu Champion Box Office Collection Day 1: Kartik Aaryan is one of the most talked about actors in the industry and he is all over the headlines today courtesy of his recent release Chandu Champion. Helmed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion happens to be a sports biographical drama which also features Bhuvan Arora, Yashpal Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, Aniruddh Dave, and Vijay Raaz in key roles. To note, Chandu Champion is based on India's first Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar.

Interestingly, Chandu Champion, which managed to create a massive buzz in the town owing to its interesting teaser, poster and not to forget Kartik Aaryan's incredible transformation, had opened to rave reviews from the audience. The fans hailed Kabir Khan's direction and even called it as Kartik's career best performance. However, despite stupendous reviews, Chandu Champion has failed to set the box office on fire.

According to a report published in Sacnilk, Chandu Champion, which made a collection of Rs 1.18 crores from advance booking, managed to mint Rs 5.4 crores (early estimates) on the opening day. While the numbers have come as a shock for everyone given the buzz, Chandu Champion has turned out to be Kartik's lowest opener in 7 years. While this Kartik starrer is facing competition from Sharvari and Abhay Verma's Munjya, it will be interesting to see how this sports drama will fare at the box office in the coming days.

Meanwhile, talking about Chandu Champion, Kartik told Variety, "A lot of prep was required for the skill sets, for the body transformation, one needs to have a lot of patience, and a lot of mental balance. I had never been in this situation - I was doing romantic films or comedy films. But this was the first time that I was doing something like this where I had to do a war sequence, I had to do wresting and whatnot. I was intrigued what Murlikant Petkar's thought process would be. And Kabir-sir used to always tell me that it's all about the willpower. And that's the one line of the film also - the man who refused to surrender basically, in any circumstances in any given situation, how no matter how hard or tough it is".
