Chandu Champion Box Office Collection Day 2: Kartik’s Film Sees A Hike; Mints Over Twice Of Maidaan’s Numbers

Chandu Champion Box Office Collection Day 2: Kartik Aaryan, Bollywood's lover boy, is all over the headlines for his recent release Chandu Champion for several reasons. After all, the movie not just marks Kartik's first collaboration with ace filmmaker Kabir Khan, but also presents Kartik in a never seen before avatar. In fact, as Chandu Champion has managed to create a massive buzz in the town, it turned out to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Given the buzz, Chandu Champion opened to rave reviews from the audience.
For the uninitiated, Chandu Champion happens to be a sport romantic drama which is based on India's first Paralympic gold medallist Murlikant Petkar. Apart from Kartik, the movie also features Bhuvan Arora, Yashpal Sharma, Rajpal Yadav, Aniruddh Dave, and Vijay Raaz in key roles. However, despite the substantial buzz and the rave reviews, Chandu Champion failed to get a phenomenal response at the box office. The sports biopic made a collection of Rs 4.75 crores on the opening day and turned out to be Kartik's lowest opener in 7 days.
As Chandu Champion continues to win hearts, the positive word of mouth has resulted in a hike in numbers on Saturday of 42%. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Chandu Champion raked in 6.75% which took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 11.50 crores. Interestingly, Chandu Champion has over double the collection of Ajay Devgn's much loved sports drama Maidaan which had minted Rs. 2.75 crores on its second day of release.
Meanwhile, talking about Chandu Champion, Kartik told Variety, "A lot of prep was required for the skill sets, for the body transformation, one needs to have a lot of patience, and a lot of mental balance. I had never been in this situation - I was doing romantic films or comedy films. But this was the first time that I was doing something like this where I had to do a war sequence, I had to do wresting and whatnot. I was intrigued what Murlikant Petkar's thought process would be. And Kabir-sir used to always tell me that it's all about the willpower. And that's the one line of the film also - the man who refused to surrender basically, in any circumstances in any given situation, how no matter how hard or tough it is".
