Akshay Kumar Independence Day Box Office Report: Akshay Kumar is one of the most talked about and successful actors in Bollywood who has been ruling millions of hearts for around three decades. From action to comedy, drama to romance, Akshay has aced every genre and has been a treat to watch on the big screen. The superstar has been crowned as the Khiladi of the industry and he has given several iconic hits over the years which have created several records.

And now, Akshay is gearing up for the third release of 2024. After Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sarfira, Akshay is now coming up with Khel Khel Mein which also features Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Fardeen Khan etc in the lead. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Khel Khel Mein is a comedy film which is the official remake of the Italian film Perfect Strangers. The movie is slated to release on August 15 and happens to be Akshay's 10th Independence Day release in a decade (2014-2024).

For the uninitiated, Akshay's obsession with Independence Day started in 2013 with Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Dobara which saw a decent start of Rs 11.30 crores at the opening day. Released in 2015, Brothers was a sports action film which was directed by Karan Malhotra and also featured Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez, Jackie Shroff and Shefali Shah. The movie made an opening day collection of Rs 15.21 crores and went on to make a lifetime collection of Rs 82.47 crores

Rustom

Rustom

Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, Rustom was a crime thriller which also featured Ileana D'Cruz, Arjan Bajwa and Esha Gupta in the lead. The film was said to be loosely based on the K. M. Nanavati v. State of Maharashtra court case. Released in 2016, Rustom made an opening day collection of Rs 14.11 crores and was declared a hit as it raked in Rs 127.49 crores in its lifetime.

Toilet: A Love Story

Released in 2017, Toilet: A Love Story is a comedy drama starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead. Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the movie highlighted India's toilet problem in the rural areas and the cultural and religious sentiments causing the hurdles. Toilet: A Love Story made an opening day collection of Rs 13.10 crores and raked in a total collection of Rs 134.22 crores in lifetime.

Directed by Reema Kagti, Gold (2018) was a period sports film starring Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh, Sunny Kaushal and Nikita Dutta. It was based on Indian national hockey team's journey to the 1948 Summer Olympics. The movie saw a good start at the box office with a collection of Rs 25.25 crores and made a lifetime collection of Rs 104.72 crores

Released in 2019, Mission Mangal happens to be a Jagan Shakti directorial and is said to be based on the life of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to India's first interplanetary expedition Mars Orbiter Mission. The movie features Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi in lead roles. Mission Mangal made an opening day collection of Rs 29.16 crores and a lifetime collection of Rs 202.98 crores

To note, Raksha Bandhan made a lifetime collection of Rs 44.39 crores

The much talked about spiritual sequel to Akshay Kumar's OMG - Oh My God!, OMG 2 is a comedy drama which released in 2023 and featured Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in the lead. The movie revolved around sex education in India and received a lot of critical acclaim. OMG 2 made an opening day collection of Rs 10.26 crores and raked in Rs 150.17 crores in its lifetime.
