Jigra Box Office Collection Day 5: Alia's Film Sees Further DROP Amid Controversies; Worse Than Shaandaar?

Jigra Box Office Collection Day 5: Alia Bhatt, the leading lady who's delivered several blockbusters and won hearts with her impeccable acting skills in films like 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', 'Highway', 'Raazi' and 'Udta Punjab' to name a few, seems to have gotten one of the biggest flops of her career with the much-anticipated 'Jigra'.

Directed by Vasan Bala, the latest Dharma film (jointly produced by Dharma Productions, Eternal Sunshine Productions and Viacom18 Studios) stars Alia and Vedang Raina in the lead as siblings. Amid much anticipation, the film had a grand theatrical release on 11th October, clashing with Rajkummar Rao-Triptii Dimri's 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video'. Ever since the release, Jigra has been struggling at the ticket counters. Amid its box office struggle, the film also got entangled in controversies. From 'fake collections' to nepotism debate, several accusations have been labelled against Alia, and Karan Johar regarding the film.

Jigra Box Office Collection Day 5 Report

Despite Alia Bhatt's star power, Jigra has been struggling to pull audiences to the theatres. The jail-break thriller opened to a box office collection of Rs 4.5 cr (Hindi) and saw an upward pace on Saturday, raking in Rs 6.5 cr on day 2. However, since Sunday, the numbers have been unfortunately going downward only. On day 3 (Sunday), Alia-Vedang's Jigra earned around Rs 5.47 cr, followed by Rs 1.63 cr on Monday.

According to the latest Sacnilk report, the box office numbers of Jigra have dropped further below yesterday. Reportedly, the movie managed to collect Rs 1.60 cr (early estimates) on Tuesday, taking the total estimated collection to Rs 19.7 cr in 5 days.

Jigra's box office numbers are worse than Alia-Karan Johar's 2015 box office debacle 'Shandaar'. As per reports, Shaandaar's day 5 collection was Rs 35.73 cr nad it had earned Rs 2.2 cr on its 5th day.
