Despite buzz and anticipation, the Vasan Bala directorial seems to have failed to a strike a chord with the audience. Headlined by Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina ('The Archies' fame), the film had a grand theatrical release yesterday (October 11), clashing with Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri starrer 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video' (VVKWWV).

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the prison-break thriller-drama minted around Rs 4.55 cr (nett) on the day of its release. Produced by Dharma Productions, Eternal Sunshine Productions and Viacom18, Jigra revolves around the heart-wrenching story of a sister named Satya (played by Alia) who goes great lengths to save his younger brother (played by Vedang). The film also features Manoj Pahwa in an important role.

Given the Dussehra weekend, Jigra is expected to see a slight growth today (first Saturday, day 2) at the box office. According to the latest Sacnilk report, the film has managed to earn around Rs 1.11 cr today till 1:30 pm.

Given the buzz, Alia-Vedang's film is likely to earn between Rs 5-7 cr today, on day 2.
