According to a tweet shared trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal, Kalki 2898 AD is expected to beat SS Rajamouli's RRR starring Prabhas and Ram Charan. He tweeted, "Veteran numerologist JP Reddy has predicted #kalki2898ad day 1 to go above ₹257cr...... It will surpass RRR day 1 Worldwide collection...... Massive if this happens". Reportedly, RRR made a worldwide collection of Rs 223 crores on the opening day. If the reports turned out to be true, Kalki 2898 AD will record the highest opening ever made by an Indian film.

Meanwhile talking about Kalki 2898 AD, this Nag Ashwin directorial is the first motion picture instalment of the planned Kalki Cinematic Universe and is set in a post-apocalyptic world, in the year 2898 AD. As Kalki 2898 AD will reportedly chronicle some events of the Mahabharata in the year of 3102 BC, Nag Ashwin in his interaction with Deadline stated that the movie "does not involve any characters actively worshipped by large numbers of Hindus". He further asserted, "We can take it as extremely religious or we can take it as the story of somebody who was born with a lot of power, didn't know what to do with it, and found his mentor in the process".
