Maidaan Vs Bade Miyan Chote Miyan Box Office Collection Day 1: Box office clashes are nothing new in the Hindi film industry. Several films including Raees-Kabil, Dilwale-Bajirao Mastani, Animal-Sam Bahadur have locked horns at the ticket windows. On Thursday (April 11), two major movies hit the silver screens- Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.

Both film starred Bollywood superstars. While Ajay Devgn led the sports drama Maidaan, Akshay Kumar featured in the action thriller Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. While the buzz for the two flicks was generated post the trailer's release, somehow the films couldn't garner the numbers that the industry folks expected.

While Eid releases usually generate a massive response, both Maidaan and BMCM failed to earn over Rs 20 crore on first day, as per early estimates. The numbers have been disappointing considering the holiday and massive promotions.

While the paid reviews earned Rs 2 crore, early estimates for Maidaan's first day collection suggest that the movie collected around Rs 5 crore. The makers are yet to release an official statement about the numbers.

"Both #BMCM and #MAIDAAN UNDERPERFORMED on the #EID day. BMCM rakes in ₹15.50Cr while Maidaan rakes in ₹7.70Cr (including paid previews). Today, on such big festival you expect at least ₹40Cr from one film but here the combined business of 2 biggies is LESS than ₹25Cr. Sad," a journalist tweeted.

BADE MIYAN CHOTE MIYAN BOX OFFICE DAY 1

According to journalist Himesh Mankad, BMCM collected over Rs 15 crore on the opening day. He shared the early estimates on social media.

His tweet read, "#BadeMiyanChoteMiyan takes a slow start at the box office in India; Collects around Rs 15 crore on the opening day as per estimates on Eid Day."

Maidaan got 1/3 opening of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, showcasing the audience's preference. However, the positive word-of-mouth publicity is expected to give a push to the sports drama.
