Merry Christmas Box Office Collection Day 7: Katrina’s Film To See Its Lowest Number Ahead Of IPF Release

Katrina Kaif, who was last seen in Salman Khan starrer Tiger 3, has been all over the headlines these days courtesy of her recent release. We are talking about Sriram Raghavan's directorial Merry Christmas which also features Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. The movie happens to be a thriller drama and marked the first Bollywood release of 2024. And while it created a substantial buzz in the town, Merry Christmas opened to a mixed response at the box office.

With an opening day collection of Rs 2.45 crores, Merry Christmas did see a jump during the opening weekend. However, after failing the crucial Monday test, it has been witnessing a continuous drop in collections. Starting with a 56% drop on first Monday (day 4), Merry Christmas saw another dip of 21% on Tuesday (day 5), followed by another 9% drop on Wednesday (day 6) wherein it made a collection of Rs 1.18 crores and took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 13.86 crores.

And now given the trend and a new releases coming up this Friday, Merry Christmas is likely to see its lowest collection today and might earn Rs 90 Lakhs to Rs 1 crores today (day 7/ first Thursday). In fact it has earned 3 lakhs so far from its morning shows as per a report published in Sacnilk and the numbers will be increasing during the day.

To note, with Sidharth Malhotra's Indian Police Force releasing on Amazon Prime tomorrow and Pankaj Tripathi's Main Atal Hoon hitting the theatres, Merry Christmas likely to witness a significant dip in the coming days.

Meanwhile, talking about working with Katrina Kaif, Vijay Sethupathi told Indian Express, "I never expected I'll work with Katrina Kaif. I'm a very big fan of Katrina. I was very happy when I saw her on the first day and I couldn't express (my happiness). She is a very thoughtful actor. She has so many questions. She thinks a lot. She is very dedicated. She comes up with an idea and she is ready to adapt. Even if she can't accept your thoughts, she will listen to you. She will put in a lot of effort to make a scene better. That's why she is in the industry not only because she is beautiful but also because she is sensible. Just on the basis of beauty you can't survive for so long. There should be sense and understanding. I felt it when I was working with her".
