Sarfira Box Office Collection Day 2: Akshay’s Film Sees 70% Hike; Creates This Record Despite Slow Start

Sarfira Box Office Collection Day 2: After winning hearts with his stint in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Akshay Kumar is now making headlines for his recent release Sarfira which marks his first collaboration with Paresh Rawal. The movie is helmed by Sudha Kongara, Sarfira is the official Bollywood female of Tamil film Sorarai Pottru starring Suriya in the lead. Also starring Paresh Rawal and Seema Biswas in key roles, Sarfira had opened to mixed reviews from the audience.

Interestingly, Sarfira, which is an adaptation of G. R. Gopinath's memoir Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey, managed to grab eyeballs for its inspiring story and Akshay and Radhika's chemistry. And while Sarfira managed to create an immense buzz in the town, it saw a slow start at the box office. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Sarfira made an opening day collection of Rs 2.5 crores.

The movie went on to see a hike of 70% in the numbers on the second day (first Saturday) as it raked in Rs 4.25 crores which took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 6.75 crores. Though Sarfira is facing a strong competition from Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer Kalki 2898 AD, it has managed to create a record at the box office. Reportedly, Sarfira has registered Radhika Madan's highest second day collection and it will be interesting to see how it will fare at the box office in the coming days.

Meanwhile, talking about Sarfira, Akshay stated, "This is my 150th film and it is my best film. I am very thankful to Sudha for giving me this film and the opportunity to be in it". He was further seen singing praises for co-star Radhika and asserted, "This is the best performance I have ever seen. I don't know what you all think about her. She is not Maharashtrian, but she has acted like one. She is very well-spoken. Her language was very good and she has gone through whole classes to learn how to speak Marathi and what to say. That is what she has done".
