Tumbbad Box Office Collection Day 5: Sohum’s Film Continues Its Winning Streak Post Re-Release; Crosses 10Cr

Tumbbad Box Office Collection Day 5: Sohum Shah starrer Tumbbad is creating waves at the box office post its re-release. The folk horror drama, which had earlier hit the screens in 2018, had recently re-released in theatres and it has taken the box office by a storm. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Tumbbad also features Rurdra Soni, Harsh K, Anita Date-Kelkar etc in the lead and has opened to rave reviews from the audience.

Written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Rahi Anil Barve, Tumbbad has been sending jitters down the spine as it revolves around the cursed village of Tumbbad which was under a curse of incessant rain for worshipping the demon God Hastar. It also focuses on a Konkanastha Brahmin family and their jinxed ancestral wealth. Interestingly, Tumbbad has managed to leave everyone in absolute awe and earned Rs 1.65 crores on the opening day. In fact, it has been maintaining a good hold at the box office ever since.

After witnessing an impressive hike during the opening weekend, Tumbbad has been maintaining a good hold at the box office despite a drop in numbers. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Tumbbad raked in Rs 1.68 crores on day 4 (first Monday) and saw an impressive Rs 1.66crores on day 5 (first Tuesday) taking the overall collections of the movie to Rs 10.69 crores.

Tumbbad vs Stree 2 vs The Buckingham Murders

Interestingly, Tumbbad is witnessing a box office competition from Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer The Buckingham Murders. However, Tumbbad seems to be unfazed from the competition. While it has managed to crush The Buckingham Murders, it is giving a strong fight to Stree 2.

Meanwhile, given the phenomenal response to Tumbbad, Sohum Shah has announced Tumbbad 2 with an intriguing teaser featuring characters Vinayak and his son Pandurang, with a voiceover from Sohum Shah saying, "Samay ka pahiya gol hai, jo beet gaya woh fir laut ke aayega...darwaaza bhi ek baar phir khulega".
