Tumbbad Box Office Collection Day 1 Prediction: The Indian box office has been witnessing a trend of re-releases these days wherein the iconic hits are releasing on the big screen once again. It started with the release of Salman Khan and Bhagyashree's Maine Pyar Kiya and so far iconic hits like Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Veer Zara etc. And now another film had joined the list. We are talking about Sohum Shah starrer Tumbbad which is a folk horror film and had earlier released in 2018.
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Tumbbad was written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Rahi Anil Barve, and Anand Gandhi and featured Sohum Shah, Rurdra Soni, Harsh K, Anita Date-Kelkar etc in the lead. To note, Tumbbad revolves around the search for a hidden 20th century treasure in the Indian village of Tumbbad, Maharashtra wherein the residents apparently built a temple for Hastar's worship, provoking the Gods who cursed the village with incessant rain.

As Tumbbad is re-releasing at the theatres, there have been speculations if the movie will surpass its previous collections. For the uninitiated, Tumbbad had raked in Rs 65 lakhs on the opening day in 2018. In an exclusive conversation with Filmibeat, film business expert and producer Girish Johar called the re-release nostalgic. While he stated that the initial buzz suggests that Tumbbad is expected to mint around Rs 65 lakhs once again on the opening day, the collection might see a hike owing to the word of mouth.
Will Tumbbad Beat The Buckingham Murders On Opening Day?
Interestingly, Tumbbad is witnessing a box office clash with Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer The Buckingham Murders. As a result, there have been speculations if Tumbbad can beat Kareena's crime thriller on the opening day. Well, while Tumbbad is expected to earn around Rs 65 lakhs today, the opening day collections of The Buckingham Murders is likely to be around Rs 1.5-2 crores. Looks like Tumbbad will fail to beat The Buckingham Murders on the opening day at the box office.
