Tumbbad vs The Buckingham Murders Box Office Day 4: Sohum Shah is over cloud nine these days and rightfully so. After all, his much talked about movie Tumbbad has been roaring loud at the box office. Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Tumbbad has re-released at the theatres after 2018 and has been witnessing a box office clash with Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer The Buckingham Murders. Both the movies have been grabbing eyeballs for their intriguing plots respectively and there have speculations about who is leading at the box office game.
For the uninitiated, Tumbbad is a folk horror drama which revolved around a Konkanastha Brahmin family in the village of Tumbbad who are seeking ancestral health which is linked to Hastar, demon God. On the other hand, The Buckingham Murders narrates the story of a British-Indian detective who is investigating the case of a murder of a 10 year old child in Buckinghamshire. Needless to say, it has been an interesting clash.

According to a report published In Sacnilk, The Buckingham Murders started the box office journey with a collection of Rs 1.15 crores and went on to see a decent hike during the opening weekend and ended up making a collection of Rs 5.25 crores during the first weekend. On the other hand, Tumbbad made an opening day collection of Rs 1.5 crores and saw and impressive jump in collections and made an opening weekend collection of Rs 6.75 crores.

Interestingly, Tumbbad has been maintaining a lead over The Buckingham Murders on the first Monday as well. While the Hansal Mehta directorial struggled to touch Rs 1 crore mark on day 4 (first Monday) and minted Rs 75 lakhs (overall collections of Rs 6 crores), the Sohum Shah starrer minted Rs 1.6 crores taking the overall collections of Rs 8.35 crores. It is evident that Tumbbad has minted twice the collection of The Buckingham Murders.
Meanwhile, given the phenomenal response to Tumbbad, Sohum Shah has announced Tumbbad 2 with an intriguing teaser featuring characters Vinayak and his son Pandurang, with a voiceover from Sohum Shah saying, "Samay ka pahiya gol hai, jo beet gaya woh fir laut ke aayega...darwaaza bhi ek baar phir khulega"
