Baba Bakshish Singh is firm in his resolve to halt the projection of movies that, in his opinion, tarnish the depiction of Sikh heritage and practices. His latest target is the film Akaal: The Unconquered, directed by Gippy Grewal. Singh's main gripe with the movie lies in its portrayal of Sikhs partaking in activities such as drinking and smoking, actions he deems contrary to their cultural and religious norms. He further points out the film's failure to accurately represent the Sikh identity, particularly criticizing the omission of traditional hair, which is integral to their appearance.
Singh also takes issue with how pivotal figures in Sikh history, specifically Hari Singh Nalua and Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, are depicted in the film. He believes that these individuals, who are deeply esteemed within the Sikh community, deserve to be portrayed with utmost respect and accuracy. Singh's demand is clear: "if Gippy Grewal's film is based on Sikh warriors like Hari Singh Nalua or Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, then those playing them should be shown with full reverence and dignity." This remark highlights his insistence on a respectful and authentic portrayal of Sikh history in cinema.
