As he kick-started the month of December with a bang, all eyes remained glued on the performance of his spy thriller. While Dhurandhar has been making waves, James Cameron's Avatar: Fire And Ash hit the silver screens on Friday (December 19), giving intense competition to Aditya Dhar's directorial.
While Avatar 3's release was expected to impact Ranveer's film, Dhurandhar is still drawing heavy crowds in its third week, showing little sign of slowing down. Early estimates for day 15 suggest the film is heading towards another strong daily total. Despite the arrival of a prominent release, the movie continued to remain strong.

James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash was released on December 19 with rave reviews, challenging Dhurandhar’s dominance at the Indian box office. According to Sacnilk, Avatar 3 earned over Rs 20 crore on its opening day. This figure is for all the languages, including Hindi and English.
While Dhurandhar maintained a slight edge with an earning of Rs 22.50 crore on Friday, the race between both films remained intense across major centres. With each film drawing sizeable footfalls, analysts describe the situation as a neck-and-neck battle.
Dhurandhar, which stars Ranveer Singh in a lead role, secured an opening of ₹28 crore opening day. Positive reviews for the performances helped the movie grow further across its first weekend and weekdays.
During its first week, Dhurandhar collected ₹207.25 crore net in India, while the second week total stood at ₹253.25 crore.

Hindi shows for Dhurandhar on 19 December recorded about 16.68 percent occupancy in the morning. Afternoon shows rose to around 33.96 percent, indicating healthy growth through the day. The occupancy for evening and night shows stood at 42.86% and 50.28%, as per Sacnilk.
