Chhaava's storyline is an artistic rendition of Shivaji Sawant's Marathi novel 'Chhava', with Vicky Kaushal stepping into the grand shoes of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. His portrayal, alongside Rashmika Mandanna's performance as Yesubai, has received a warm reception from viewers, significantly contributing to the film's success at the box office. The narrative depth is further enriched by Akshaye Khanna's acclaimed portrayal of Aurangzeb, which has been a subject of widespread praise.
