Amid record-breaking pre-release buzz, Chhaava hit cinemas today (Friday, 14th February 2025).

Produced by Maddock Films and directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava has opened to rave reviews form the audience and critics alike. Vicky Kaushal's epic portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the eldest son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, has left everyone speechless.
It was already anticipated that Chhaava would mark the biggest opening Hindi film in 2025 till now, thanks to the strong pre-release buzz and the shattering pre-sales through advance booking. As per trade analyst Sumit Kadel, the Vicky Kaushal starrer is likely to open to a whopping box office collection of somewhere between Rs 20-25 cr domestically.

Given the current buzz, Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava is likely to dethrone Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt's 'Gully Boy' and record the biggest Valentine's Day opening. Will it be able to beat Akshay Kumar's Kesari on opening day?
As per reports, the 2019 Dharma film had earned Rs 21.50 crore on its first day at the box office. It is being predicted that Vicky's Chhaava is likely to surpass Kesari's opening day figures today.
Chhaava Budget, OTT Streaming Platform Updates
Mounted on a reported budget of Rs 80 cr reportedly, Chhaava was originally scheduled to hit cinemas in December last year, clashing with Pushpa 2, but got pushed to Feb 14 this year.
If the latest OTT Play report is to be believed, Netflix has acquired the post theatrical OTT streaming rights of Chhaava. That means, the Vicky Kaushal starrer will have its OTT premiere on Netflix after its theatrical run. However, the official OTT release date in yet to be determined.
