The two movies started on a solid note during the Independence Day 2025 week, earning huge moolah in their respective markets.

As the weekdays arrived, both Coolie and War 2 witnessed a drop in numbers, setting several tongues wagging. Bollywood trade analysts like Taran Adarsh and Rohit Jaiswal have already declared Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR-starrer War 2 a 'washout'. Despite the hype and the star power of the two stars, the movie failed to pass the Monday test with flying colors.

As a result of the poor performance on weekdays, the movie failed to rise on top despite the massive promotions and popularity of being a sequel to a blockbuster film.

"War 2 couldn't strike a chord with the audience as the makers couldn't promote the show film and just depended on the hype. Considering the budget and buzz, the film should have crossed Rs 200 crore in the first five days in Hindi. War (Hindi) alone earned Rs 51 crore on the opening day in 2019," a reliable source earlier told Filmibeat's Chief Copy Editor Abhishek Ranjit.

Coolie has also seen a fall in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The numbers have been reduced in Chennai, Madurai, but they are expected to rise during the second weekend.
