Deva Box Office Collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor’s Film Sees Low Footfalls In Morning Shows On Opening Day

Deva Box Office Collection Day 1 (Morning Show Occupancy): Shahid Kapoor, who has won millions of hearts with his impressive versatility, is now creating waves in the industry for his recent release. We are talking about Deva which is a crime action thriller and is helmed by Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews. The movie also features Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati in the lead and has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year. To note, while Deva marks Shahid's first collaboration with Pooja, it also marks Rosshan Andrrews debut in Bollywood.

According to media reports, Deva happens to be a remake of the 2013 release Malayalam film Mumbai Police and features Shahid playing the role of a ferocious cop. From trailer to songs to Shahid-Pooja's chemistry, everything has managed to rake in a decent buzz in the town leaving the fans excited for Deva. In fact, the movie minted Rs 1.67 crores from the advance booking.

Much to everyone's surprise, Shahid Kapoor's Deva saw a slow start at the box office. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Deva saw a footfall of 5.87% during the morning shows today (day 1/ first Friday).

Did Deva Beat Kabir Singh On Day 1 Occupancy (Morning Show)?

Ever since Deva has been announced, it has been frequently compared with Shahdi's 2019 release Kabir Singh. Wondering if Deva managed to beat Kabir Singh? Well the answer is no. With an occupancy of 5.87% in morning shows on opening day, Deva stands nowhere close to Kabir Singh which recorded a footfall of 45%-50% in morning shows on its day of release.

Meanwhile, talking about his physical transformation for Deva, Shahid told Zoom, "So, what I wanted to do with this character was, I didn't want to make him metrosexual, chiseled-no. I felt like he should look very rugged. In my head, I always thought he should be like a bulldog. "They're these broad-shouldered, stout beings. They don't have much hair, and they look tough. Aise lagta hai na, maar denge aise. Mera feeling wahi tha ki he should be this tough guy. They're raw, and they look strong. Jisko dekhke lagega, isse panga maat lo. Isse dur raho. Toh mujhe thoda woh vibe chahiye tha".
