Deva Box Office Collection Day 3: Shahid Kapoor has unveiled his latest film, Deva, a crime action thriller that has been eagerly awaited by audiences as his opening venture for the year. Deva, which has been generating buzz since its announcement, stars Kapoor in the formidable role of Dev Ambre, a fiery police officer. Alongside him, Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati play significant parts, enriching the narrative with their performances. The movie, directed by Rosshan Andrrews, is particularly notable as it signifies the Malayalam director's first foray into the Bollywood film industry.

Deva is an adaptation of the 2013 Malayalam hit Mumbai Police, directed by Rosshan Andrrews himself and featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. This adaptation brings the gripping story of Dev Ambre, a passionate and hot-headed cop, to a new audience. After a slow start at the box office, Deva saw a slight hike at the box office during the weekend but failed to create any magic as it struggled to hit a double digit mark in a single day. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Deva, which earned Rs 6.4 crores on day 2 (First Saturday), made a collection of Rs 7.15 crores on day 3 (first Sunday) which took the overall collections of the film to Rs 19.05 crores. It is evident that it failed to touch Rs 20 crores mark during the weekend.

Deva Records Opening Weekend Collection

With a collection of Rs 6.4 crores and Rs 7.15 crores during the weekend, Deva's opening weekend collection stands at Rs 13.55 crores.

Meanwhile, talking about his physical transformation for Deva, Shahid told Zoom, "So, what I wanted to do with this character was, I didn't want to make him metrosexual, chiseled-no. I felt like he should look very rugged. In my head, I always thought he should be like a bulldog. "They're these broad-shouldered, stout beings. They don't have much hair, and they look tough. Aise lagta hai na, maar denge aise. Mera feeling wahi tha ki he should be this tough guy. They're raw, and they look strong. Jisko dekhke lagega, isse panga maat lo. Isse dur raho. Toh mujhe thoda woh vibe chahiye tha".
