Deva Box Office Collection Day 4: Shahid’s Film Sees Over 60% Dip On 1st Monday; Fails To Beat TBMAUJ

Deva Box Office Collection Day 4: Shahid Kapoor has been all over the headlines and rightfully so. After all his recent release Deva has got everyone brimming with an opinion. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, Deva is an action thriller featuring Shahid in a role of a ruthless and hot headed cop. The movie, which marks Rosshan's debut in Bollywood, also features Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati. To note, Deva also marks Shahid's first collaboration with Pooja and Pavail and the trailer has managed to create a massive buzz in the town.

To note, Deva happens to be the adaptation of Rosshan Andrrews' 2013 release Mumbai Police which featured Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. Shahid's swag as Dev Ambre, his camaraderie with Parvesh Rana, chemistry with Pooja and the peppy numbers, Deva had all the elements of being a Bollywood masala film. However, despite the buzz and impressive cast, Deva failed to live upto the expectations and has been struggling at the box office.

After failing to rake a double digit in a day during the opening weekend, Deva saw a massive drop around 64% in numbers on the first Monday. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Deva minted Rs 2.55 crores on day 4 (first Monday) which took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 21.70 crores

Deva Failed To Beat Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya

With a collection of Rs 2.55 crores, Deva has failed to beat the first Monday (fay 4) collection of Shahid's last release Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. For the uninitiated, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya had minted Rs 3.65 crores on its first Monday post release.

Meanwhile, talking about his physical transformation for Deva, Shahid told Zoom, "So, what I wanted to do with this character was, I didn't want to make him metrosexual, chiseled-no. I felt like he should look very rugged. In my head, I always thought he should be like a bulldog. "They're these broad-shouldered, stout beings. They don't have much hair, and they look tough. Aise lagta hai na, maar denge aise. Mera feeling wahi tha ki he should be this tough guy. They're raw, and they look strong. Jisko dekhke lagega, isse panga maat lo. Isse dur raho. Toh mujhe thoda woh vibe chahiye tha".
