The movie, featuring Shahid as a dynamic and impetuous cop, marks Rosshan's debut in the Bollywood industry. With the added star power of Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati, the film was anticipated to be a significant hit. Nonetheless, the reality has been quite the opposite, with the movie receiving a tepid response from audiences.

The narrative of Deva is an adaptation of the 2013 hit Mumbai Police, also directed by Rosshan Andrrews and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran as the protagonist. Given the ongoing trend, Deva is expected to have a steady hold at the today (day 7/ first Wednesday) at the box office. The movie is expected to mint Rs 1.5-2 crores and will be inching close to Rs 28 crores mark

Meanwhile, talking about his physical transformation for Deva, Shahid told Zoom, "So, what I wanted to do with this character was, I didn't want to make him metrosexual, chiseled-no. I felt like he should look very rugged. In my head, I always thought he should be like a bulldog. "They're these broad-shouldered, stout beings. They don't have much hair, and they look tough. Aise lagta hai na, maar denge aise. Mera feeling wahi tha ki he should be this tough guy. They're raw, and they look strong. Jisko dekhke lagega, isse panga maat lo. Isse dur raho. Toh mujhe thoda woh vibe chahiye tha".
