Deva Box Office Day 1: Deva Mints 3 Times Less Than Kabir Singh; Records Shahid’s 2nd Lowest Opener In 10 Yrs

Deva Box Office Collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor has been one of the most versatile actors in Bollywood and there are no second thoughts about. The handsome hunk has proved his mettle several times on the big screen and is back to leave the audience in absolute awe once again. We are talking about his first release Deva which has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Directed by Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews, Deva also features Pavail Gulati and Pooja Hegde in the lead.

Touted to be an action drama, Deva is said to a remake of 2013 release Malayalam film Mumbai Police starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. In fact, Deva also marks Rosshan Andrrews debut in Bollywood and features Shahid in the role of a ferocious cop. This isn't all. Deva also marks Shahid's first collaboration with Pooja and their sizzling chemistry has been winning hearts. Deva Fails To Beat Kabir Singh

According to a report published in Sacnilk, Deva raked in Rs 5 crores on its opening day at the box office. To note, this happens to be three times less than the day 1 collection of Kabir Singh which started its box office journey with a collection of Rs 20.21 crores.

Shahid Kapoor's Second Lowest Opener In A Decade

This isn't all. Shahid Kapoor's Deva has been recorded as his second lowest opener in 10 years so far. The first place in this list has been taken by Jersey with an opening day collection of Rs 2.93 crores

Meanwhile, talking about his physical transformation for Deva, Shahid told Zoom, "So, what I wanted to do with this character was, I didn't want to make him metrosexual, chiseled-no. I felt like he should look very rugged. In my head, I always thought he should be like a bulldog. "They're these broad-shouldered, stout beings. They don't have much hair, and they look tough. Aise lagta hai na, maar denge aise. Mera feeling wahi tha ki he should be this tough guy. They're raw, and they look strong. Jisko dekhke lagega, isse panga maat lo. Isse dur raho. Toh mujhe thoda woh vibe chahiye tha".
