The report further suggested that Deva made a decent start at the worldwide box office. Reportedly, Deva earned Rs 7.5 crores at the worldwide box office on the opening day.

Meanwhile, talking about his physical transformation for Deva, Shahid told Zoom, "So, what I wanted to do with this character was, I didn't want to make him metrosexual, chiseled-no. I felt like he should look very rugged. In my head, I always thought he should be like a bulldog. "They're these broad-shouldered, stout beings. They don't have much hair, and they look tough. Aise lagta hai na, maar denge aise. Mera feeling wahi tha ki he should be this tough guy. They're raw, and they look strong. Jisko dekhke lagega, isse panga maat lo. Isse dur raho. Toh mujhe thoda woh vibe chahiye tha".
