Dhurandhar Early Box Office Report Day 1: Will Ranveer's Spy-Thriller Outshine Kantara Chapter 1 Opening?
Dhurandhar Box Office Collection Day 1 Early Prediction: After a long gap, Ranveer Singh is returning to the screens in a lead role with Dhurandhar, and the anticipation is sky-high. As we inch closer to the film's much-awaited worldwide theatrical release, Dhurandhar continues to dominate headlines - not just for its buzz, but also for its fair share of controversies. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the high-on-action espionage thriller drama is headlined by Ranveer Singh and boasts a power-packed ensemble including names like R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal. As fans eagerly wait for December 5 with bated breath, advance bookings have already started rolling in across India.
Dhurandhar Advance Booking Day 1 Update
Inspired by incredible true events, Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar has already piqued everyone's interest with its dhamakedaar trailer and songs, especially the title track. While late Army Officer Mohit Sharma's brother continues to repeatedly claim that the film is based on his brother's life, director Aditya Dhar has clarified that the film is a fictional story.
Amid the ongoing battle, Dhurandhar's advance booking has rolled out on a decent note. According to the latest Sacnilk update, the spy-thriller has already sold 27,831 (2D: 25347; IMAX 2D: 2484) in the National Chains in India till 9:00 PM today (December 2).
As of now, the total gross earnings are estimated to be at Rs 2.81 cr (with block seats).
Dhurandhar Box Office Buzz: Ranveer Singh Movie Early Prediction For Day 1
According to trade analyst and journalist Navneet Mundhra, given the massive scale of Dhurandhar, the film was initially expected to open with a strong ₹30-32 crore (net) on day one. However, due to the noticeably low pre-sales buzz, he now predicts that the film may debut with a more modest ₹16-18 crore on its opening day.
Taking to X, the trade analyst tweeted, "The advances of #Dhurandhar have started on a slow note. As I've been saying, the teaser didn't excite a large segment of the audience. They have erred on the marketing front as well.
A film of this scale and starcast should've been aiming for Day 1 of Rs 30-32 crore net. But as of now, the opening of Rs 16-18 looks more realistic.
An "action" film featuring #RanveerSingh and other fine actors struggling to cross Day 1 of a romantic #TereIshkMein would be a sad state of affairs. (sic)"
Will Dhurandhar Surpass Kantara Chapter 1 (Kantara 2) Opening Day Figures On Day 1?
Recently, Ranveer Singh was embroiled in an intense backlash over his mimicry of Daiva from Rishabh Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2025) in Goa.
Earlier today, Singh took to his social media and apologised for his actions, sharing a note for hurting sentiments.
Dhurandhar faces a massive box-office challenge as it goes head-to-head with the benchmark set by Kantara Chapter 1 (also known as Kantara 2). Released on October 2, the Rishab Shetty starrer opened to a stunning ₹61.85 crore across all languages - Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam - as per Sacnilk.
Going by Navneet Mundhra's early estimates, Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar may fall short of surpassing Kantara 2's mammoth opening figures. However, it's worth noting that the Hindi-dubbed version of Kantara Chapter 1 alone collected ₹18.5 crore on its release day, as per the same Sacnilk report. With that comparison in mind, Dhurandhar still stands a strong chance of overtaking Kantara's Hindi day 1 numbers, depending on its word-of-mouth and final pre-sales momentum.
