Emergency Box Office Collection Day 1

Emergency Box Office Collection Day 1: Kangana Ranaut is all over the headlines these days and rightfully so. After all, her recent release Emergency has been one of the most talked about releases of the year. Touted to be a historical biopic, Emergency is based on late prime minister Indira Gandhi and Indian emergency and is written, directed and co-produced by Kangana Ranaut herself. The movie features Kangana playing the role of Indira Gandhi in the film and the trailer of the film has been the talk of the town ever since it had premiered last year.

Apart from Kangana, Emergency also features Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, along with Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, and Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. Interestingly, Emergency, which was said to premiere in September last year, was delayed due to delay in censorship certificate. As Emergency has finally hit the screens, it opened to a mixed review from the audience.

To note, Kangana, who was last seen in 2023 release Tejas, has managed to grab a lot of eyeballs with her stint as Indira Gandhi. As it managed to create a lof buzz in the town, Emergency witnessed a decent response at the box office. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Emergency made a collection of Rs 3.11 crores on its opening day (day 1/ first Friday)

Emergency Box Office Record On Opening Day

To note, Emergency has managed to become Kangana's highest opener in last 5 years. Yes! The historical biopic, which witnessed a footfall of 13.60% on the opening day, recorded Kangana's highest opening day collection after the COVID 19 pandemic era.

Meanwhile, Emergency is once again mired by controversy as Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) demanded a ban on the release in Punjab citing it might spark outrage in the Sikh community. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami on Thursday wrote to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann. This didn't go down well with Kangana who stated, "This is complete harassment of art and the artist, from Punjab many cities are reporting that these people are not allowing Emergency to be screened. I have utmost respect for all religions and after studying and growing up in Chandigarh I have closely observed and followed Sikh religion. This is a complete lie and propaganda to tarnish my image and harm my film #Emergency".
