Emergency Box Office Collection Day 5

Emergency Box Office Collection Day 5: Kangana Ranaut starrer Emergency has been creating waves in the industry ever since it was announced. The movie, which has been directed, written and co-produced by Kangana, has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year and is based on the former prime minister Indira Gandhi and the Indian emergency period. To note, Emergency happens to be a historical biographical drama starring Kangana in the lead role as she steps into the shows of Indira Gandhi. In fact, as Emergency has been mired by controversy ever since the trailer was premiered last year, it has got everyone speculating about the movie's box office performance.

Apart from Kangana, Emergency also boasts a powerful cast including Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee along with names like Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, and Satish Kaushik. Despite the high anticipation and a strong promotional buzz, Emergency has received a mixed reception from viewers. However, the movie seems to be struggling at the box office ahead of completing a week in the theatres.

Emergency Box Office Collection Day 5

After witnessing a massive drop of over 75% in numbers on the first Monday, Emergency saw a slight hike in numbers on the first Tuesday. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Emergency raked in Rs 1.07 crores on day 5 (first Tuesday) which took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 12.47 crores

Emergency Occupancy Day 5

Interestingly, Emergency, which saw an occupancy of over 6.50% on first Monday, saw a rise in footfalls on day 4 (first Tuesday) and recorded an occupancy of 7.09%

Meanwhile, Emergency is once again mired by controversy as Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) demanded a ban on the release in Punjab citing it might spark outrage in the Sikh community. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami on Thursday wrote to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann. This didn't go down well with Kangana who stated, "This is complete harassment of art and the artist, from Punjab many cities are reporting that these people are not allowing Emergency to be screened. I have utmost respect for all religions and after studying and growing up in Chandigarh I have closely observed and followed Sikh religion. This is a complete lie and propaganda to tarnish my image and harm my film #Emergency".
