Emergency Box Office Collection Day 8: Kangana’s Film Fails To Earn 50L As Sky Force Hits Theatres

Emergency Box Office Collection Day 8: The eagerly anticipated film Emergency, which saw Kangana Ranaut not only leading the cast as Indira Gandhi but also wearing multiple hats as director, writer, and co-producer, has made waves in the cinematic world. This historical drama threw spotlight on the life of the former prime minister during the challenging times of the Indian Emergency. Given Kangana's involvement in various facets of the film's creation, it has been one of the most awaited cinematic events of the year.
Adding to the allure of Emergency is its star-studded cast, which includes Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Milind Soman portraying Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, and Shreyas Talpade in the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The presence of Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, and Satish Kaushik further enhances the ensemble, promising a compelling mix of acting prowess and on-screen charisma. This combination of celebrated talents has contributed to the heightened anticipation surrounding the film's release.
Emergency Box Office Collection Day 8
The Kangana Ranaut starrer has started the second week on a dull note as Akshay Kumar's Sky Force had hit the screens. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Emergency was seen struggling to touch Rs 50 lakhs mark. The movie minted Rs 34 lakhs on second Friday (day 8) which took the overall collections of the movie to Rs 14.64 crores
Emergency Sees A Hike In Occupancy
Interestingly, Emergency saw a hike in occupancy on the second Friday despite a new release in theatres. The movie, which saw a footfall of 6.66% on first Thursday (day 7), saw an occupancy of 10.39% on day 8 (second Thursday)
Meanwhile, Emergency is once again mired by controversy as Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) demanded a ban on the release in Punjab citing it might spark outrage in the Sikh community. SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami wrote to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann. This didn't go down well with Kangana who stated, "This is complete harassment of art and the artist, from Punjab many cities are reporting that these people are not allowing Emergency to be screened. I have utmost respect for all religions and after studying and growing up in Chandigarh I have closely observed and followed Sikh religion. This is a complete lie and propaganda to tarnish my image and harm my film #Emergency".
