As Empuraan opened to a decent review post release, the movie saw an impressive start at the box office in the Hindi market. According to a report published in Sacnilk, Empuraan made a collection of Rs 50 lakhs in the Hindi market on day 1 (first Thursday)
Empuraan Records Highest Opening For A Malayalam Film In Hindi
Interestingly, Empuraan has managed to create a record post its release in the Hindi domain. The movie has recorded the highest opening for a Malayalam film in the Hindi market with an opening day collection of Rs 0.50 crores.
Meanwhile, director Prithvijraj Sukumaran spoke about working with Mohanlal in Empuraan and told India Today and the senior actor changed his perspective on the actor-director relationship. He stated, "He really opened my eyes about how I should be with my directors. "It's a wonderful lesson for an actor because it's very important to realise that you are but an instrument to create the director's vision. Your ultimate goal as an actor should be to help the director bring that vision to life. Of course, you bring in your interpretation, your layer to it. specially since I've started directing, I've realised I need to switch off the technician in me when I'm acting. I wasn't able to do that completely when I was only an actor. But now, after turning director, I can do it comfortably. It's strange, but the making of this film has helped me do that"
