Kesari Chapter 2 Box Office Day 5: Akshay’s Film Mints 78% Less Than Sikandar On 1st Tues; Fails To Beat Jaat

Kesari Chapter 2 Box Office Collection Day 5: Akshay Kumar's recent release Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh has been the talk of the town since its inception for several reasons. To begin with, the story revolves around the harrowing event of the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Besides, it also came with a stellar cast of Akshay along with Ananya Panday and R Madhavan. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, Kesari Chapter 2 is adapted from the book "The Case That Shook The Empire" which was written by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat.
Interestingly, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh marks Akshay's first collaboration with Ananya and R Madhavan. In fact, fans have been quite excited to watch Akshay's first onscreen face off with R Madhavan. To note, Akshay plays the role of lawyer C Sankaran Nair - the lawyer who had challenged the British Empire over the killings at the Jallianwala Bagh. On the other hand, Ananya is seen in the role of Dilreet Gill while R Madhavan plays the role of the lead antagonist advocate Neville McKinley. As Kesari Chapter 2 was released amid massive buzz, it has opened to decent reviews and has been doing a good show at the box office.

Kesari Chapter 2 Fails To Beat Jaat; Lags Behind Sikandar
With a collection of 4.8 crores, Kesari Chapter 2 has failed to beat Sunny Deol's Jaat on the fifth day of release. For the uninitiated, Jaat made a collection of Rs 7.25 crores on day 5. To note, Kesari Chapter 2 has minted over 78% less than the collection of Salman Khan's Sikandar which was around Rs 19.5 crores.
Meanwhile, Akshay has made a significant plea to the British government and King Charles, urging them to watch "Kesari Chapter 2," a film that portrays the grim realities of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He believes that by witnessing the depiction of the tragic event, an acknowledgment of the historical error might naturally occur. Akshay's call to action is not about demanding an apology with a "begging bowl" but rather about encouraging a genuine realization of the atrocities depicted in the film.
His personal connection to the Jallianwala Bagh incident, as shared through family stories from his grandfather who witnessed the massacre, deepens his involvement with the film. This historical event, firmly rooted in his family's history, has left a profound impact on Akshay, making the project particularly meaningful to him. He lamented the fact that history often fails to convey the full truth, emphasizing the importance of bringing to light what actually transpired during such a pivotal moment in history.
Akshay is convinced that an apology from the British might naturally occur once they confront the film's portrayal of the massacre's severity. He underscores the importance of them grasping the full scope of the tragedy to elicit a spontaneous response. "I'm not here with a begging bowl to say, 'They should say sorry'. I want them to at least watch this movie and realise the mistake. Other things will flow automatically from their mouth. The apology is bound to happen, it will flow on its own. But I want them to watch this film. I want the British government and King Charles to watch this film. They should see what happened. The rest will follow automatically," Akshay stated, expressing his hope for an organic acknowledgment of the historical blunder.
