Both the movies' lead actors Mohanlal and Salman Khan addressed whether they consider each other's movies as the competition in a recent press conference. Salman addressed his admiration towards Mohanlal's work. As per Bollywood Bubble reports, the actor said, "I love Mohanlal sir as an actor. Prithviraj is directing it, and I know it's going to be an excellent film (sic)."

Salman further went on to praise Sunny Deol's movie Jaat. Salman addressed, "There's Jaat also coming post-Sikandar. I wish all of them do well."

When asked L2: Empuraan's director Prithviraj Sukumaran was asked whether Sikandar will affect their box office numbers. Calling Salman Khan one of the "biggest stars" in the country, director replied, "I hope both films become blockbusters. I will have no complaints if you watch L2: Empuraan at 11 a.m. and Sikandar at 1 p.m. (sic)." So who will win at the box office, L2: Empuraan or Sikandar?
